PHOTOGRAPHY EVOLUTION
If you knew my dad personally, you'd know that he loves taking pictures of everyone & everything. He collects lots of cameras and likes to develop pictures.
Before 9th grade, I have always appreciated beautiful photographs, but I didn't think about creating my own.

During 9th grade, I would see some of my classmates always carrying their bulky cameras. A classmate of mine took many pictures on his DSLR for yearbook. Another classmate decided to do a "photo shoot" of me when we went to Yosemite. Seeing that people around my age were able to create such beautiful photographs, I decided that I should create some of my own.

I started my photography journey with a small $10 point-and-shoot camera: Vivitar.
VIVITAR 2011 PHOTOS
My first camera (2011)
During 2011, one of my biggest photography inspirations, Kitty Gallannaugh, was doing her own 365 photography project where she would post a photograph for each day on her Facebook page. I was inspired and decided to do my own project. Of course, being new to photography, I didn't really know about rule of thirds, composition, and all the other elements. I merely took pictures of whatever caught my eye.

I use my dad's Adobe Photoshop program, which he installed on my laptop for his architecture projects. Bokeh (the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light) always fascinated me, but I didn't know how to create it. I would not have been able to create bokeh through my Vivitar point-and-shoot, because of its shallow depth of field. Thus, I used photoshop to create artificial bokeh. Looking back, adding bokeh to my photographs wasn't such a good idea.

Because of my 365 photography project, I got my good friends to model for me. I learned more about model poses, backgrounds, and composition. I often borrowed my dad's Nikon to take photos. Eventually, he bought me a used Canon that he bought online.
